Blurb:

Kate isn’t thrilled to be moving to the middle of nowhere. She's already lost her parents, now she's leaving the only place she's ever known as home. She’s not there long when she realizes her dreams aren’t her own and that she has the ability to walk through other people's dreams. Not only that, but she might have found her dream guy--literally. He's in her dreams.

Just when she starts to get the hang of dream walking, strange murders in her new town start to occur. Girls are being killed as they sleep with no evidence, no suspects and no clear motive behind the deaths. It doesn’t take Kate very long to realize that the girls aren’t just being killed as they sleep—they’re being killed in their sleep.

Kate must figure out how to find the killer in the real world and keep the ones she loves safe while they sleep.

Guest Post!

My top ten female characters

1   Rose Hathaway from Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy series. She is tough, loyal, a smart @ss and knows how to take someone out. She has been my number once since I first read the series.
2   June from Marie Lu’s Legend. She is so smart, and while a rule follower in the beginning, she knew when it was time to break away. And man can she throw down!
3.      While most of the women on this list are “good” characters
Abigail Williams. She is the epitome of the “mean girl”. She is the character I love to hate.
4   Scout Finch – we are reading TKAM in class right now and I like her because a. she hits anyone and b. is inquisitive.
Melinda from Laurie Halse Anderson’s Speak – I felt it was heartbreaking but inspirational. Melinda battles some inner demons and a real life rapist and shows others that you will get over it. Plus – her voice in the book is hilarious.
6   Tally from Scott Westfeld’s Uglies series – I love that she breaks the mold of plastic and fake. She is brave enough to discover the wild and eventually embraces it.
7   Celeana from Sara J Maas’s Throne of Glass – This 17-year-old girl is one bad @ss assassin. And she knows how to wrap the prince and the head of the guard around her finger. The girl has it together.
Kate from Amiee Carter’s Goddess Test series –Perseverance – that’s what this girl has. No matter the odds, her desire to succeed pushed through.
Alex from JLA Half Blood series – Alex while tough is sensitive and pushed by heart. And while fate pulls her one way – she fights it.

Tris – Veronica Roth’s Divergent series – There is a lot of hub bub about this book right now and there should be. Tris is a great lead, and a distinct characteristic about her is she always follows her instincts. She does what she thinks is necessary.

My Thoughts :

When Kates parents die in a car accident it falls to her older sister to look after her. Her sister takes a nursing job in a small town and Kate isn't happy to move to the middle of nowhere. Not long after moving to their new house Kate starts having very vivid dreams but they aren't hers. She keeps having dreams of people she never met and in the dreams she is like a ghost watching things play out. Every night she seems to dream these strange dream and eventually her sister guesses. It turns out that Kates sister and mother could do the same.

While dream walking Kate sees two figures that seem to be in every dream. One creeps her out and is always part of a nightmare and the other is intriguing. She slowly makes friends with the intriguing one. One morning Kate wakes up to the news that there was a murder, a cheerleader was killed in her bedroom. Two more murders happen and more details come to light. Kate and the boy she meets in her dreams are the only ones who can help. But how can they? Who are the two strangers?

I really enjoyed Walker! It hooked me from the first page! I liked Kates character even though at times she did annoy me. I can understand her feelings but at the start she was like a spoilt brat towards her sister. I'm so glad that only lasted a little bit though!! I really liked Kates sister. She is only in her early twenties and is trust into be Kates guardian. She takes to it awesomely and is kind but firm with Kate.

The love story was really sweet and unique, even though I could see who the love interest was from the start! It wasn't a major point in the book which I liked and it was slow burning and a nice change.

Now I did have a few minor problems with Walker. I figured out who the bad guy was as soon as Kate saw him outside of the Dream realm and once she met him things kind of escalated really quickly from there. Personally I would of liked it a bit more drawn out and suspenseful. It all felt rushed a little.

Also at times I  felt the writing could of been tidied up, for example here's a passage I highlighted
"Part of me didn't want to figure out who he was, but it wasn't nearly as strong as my desire to find out who he was. But what would I do when I did find out who he was?"
To me that's too many who he was!!!
But like I said its only minor and personal complaints and nothing that takes away from the overall book.

Overall I really enjoyed Walker. It was a nice addition to the YA genre and a book Id have no problem recommending. Its suspenseful, unique and with a creepy atmosphere. I read it at night and let me tell you that it did freak me out at times!! The bad guy is really mean and evil and the idea he was in dreams was so scary!! Cant wait to read more so I'm hoping this isn't a stand alone.
