All Hanna Euli wants is to become a proper witch – but unfortunately, she’s stuck as an apprentice to a grumpy fisherman. When their boat gets caught up in a mysterious storm and blown wildly off course, Hanna finds herself further away from home than she’s ever been before.

As she tries to get back, she learns there may be more to her apprentice master than she realized, especially when a mysterious, beautiful, and very non-human boy begins following her through the ocean, claiming that he needs Hanna’s help.

My Thoughts :

When Hanna is on a routine fishing trip with her master, their boat gets blown wildly off course by a mysterious storm. Thats OK because they can easily get home right? Wrong!! She realises that her Master isn't taking her home but to a place she has only ever heard of. When they are caught in another storm their boat is ruined. They wash ashore another strange place and Hanna immediately tells him that she isn't going with him but will find her own way home.  First she has to earn money for passage and then she has to survive the things that are set on killing her. Will she make it home?

I have to say that the cover is fantastic!! So eye catching :)

Hanna was an awesome character. She is easily likable. She wants nothing more than to learn to be a witch but her mother wont let her. She has an affinity to the wind and is on the boat to guide the sails. During the storms she is scared but still does what she has to. She is smart, strong and honest.

Isolfr was the mysterious boy sent to help Hanna on her journey aboard the Penelope. Im not sure what he actually is but I loved his character. Everything about him is shrouded in mystery and Im hoping we learn more in book 2.

The style of writing was amazing. Very descriptive and magical. The author makes you smell the sea and feel the wind with her narrative. The world she created is full of magic, mystery and lots of sea ;) Most of the book seems to take place in some sea and you would think it would be boring but it wasn't. The author pulls you into the story and keeps the suspense and plot fast paced. I loved learning about the magic and the Mists and cant wait to read more. So ya, overall I really enjoyed it and will definitely have to check out the other 2 books set in this magical, fascinating world.

    2. I loved the world and writing, just felt emotionally unattached to the characters in TAC. I think you'll definitely like them, it's set in the same world. ;)
