For five centuries, a witch’s curse has bound the trolls to their city beneath the ruins of Forsaken Mountain. Time enough for their dark and nefarious magic to fade from human memory and into myth. But a prophesy has been spoken of a union with the power to set the trolls free, and when Cécile de Troyes is kidnapped and taken beneath the mountain, she learns there is far more to the myth of the trolls than she could have imagined.

Cécile has only one thing on her mind after she is brought to Trollus: escape. Only the trolls are clever, fast, and inhumanly strong. She will have to bide her time, wait for the perfect opportunity.

But something unexpected happens while she’s waiting – she begins to fall for the enigmatic troll prince to whom she has been bonded and married. She begins to make friends. And she begins to see that she may be the only hope for the half-bloods – part troll, part human creatures who are slaves to the full-blooded trolls. There is a rebellion brewing. And her prince, Tristan, the future king, is its secret leader.

As Cécile becomes involved in the intricate political games of Trollus, she becomes more than a farmer’s daughter. She becomes a princess, the hope of a people, and a witch with magic powerful enough to change Trollus forever.

My Thoughts :

Well all I can say is wow!!! This book was AMAZING. When I read the blurb and saw trolls, my first thought was giant, ugly, warty things, but I wasn't even close. Granted some of them are misshapen but most look the same as humans albeit a gorgeous one!

When Cecile is kidnapped and brought to Trollus her first thought is escape but she has to bide her time because the trolls are extremely strong, smart and fast. She is forced to meet the king and when he tells her why she is here it just makes her more determined to leave. How do they expect her to marry one of them?? When she meets Tristan, the prince and the one she is meant to marry, he treats her like dirt. She hates him and cant believe what is happening. Is he really as bad as she thinks or is he worse? Why was she brought here? Can she escape?

I loved Cecile. Her character is so strong, sure, kind and courageous but yet she isn't kick ass, which I liked. She does everything in her power to plan an escape but finds herself falling for this weird and cruel world she has descended into. Not all trolls seem to be as horrible as the King. She finds friends and even a love interest!!

Tristan mean while starts off as a snarky mean troll but is he really like that? He is a complex character that just got stronger the more you read. He stole my heart during the book. His father is a tyrant and Tristan has to portray an arrogant, human hating appearance or his father will find out. When Cecile first meets him she hates him but as the story progresses we see them becoming friends.

Every character brought something special to the book. Beside the main characters there was the twins Victor and Victoria, they were like a breath of fresh air!! Marc was a very dark and brooding character but when we find out his story my heart broke for him. The King was a dark and deadly person. He rules Trollus with an iron fist and hates anything human. The Queen and her sister were just odd ;) There wasn't one single character I didn't like.

Stolen Songbird blew me away with the twists and turns, the political intrigue and the touching love story. It was everything you want in a book and more. The ending!!! I was like NOOOOO! Omg, it cant end there!! What, why, how!!. Its a book that when you are reading it it is impossible to put down. Its hard to believe that this is a debut author. Her writing style was outstanding, from her world building to the characters, everything was flawless. She drew me in and wound the story around me. The romance was touching and had me crying so many times.

With its magical setting, awesome characters, unique story line and captivating story, you will fall in love with Stolen Songbird.  Did I say I LOVED this book!! Then what are you waiting for!! Go buy it now, you wont regret it!!  A book Id highly recommend.
