Lisa McMann's Wake trilogy meets the blockbuster Inception in this dark page-turner from #1 New York Times bestselling author Aprilynne Pike.

Oracles see the future but are never supposed to interfere. Charlotte learned that the hard way. If she hadn't tried to change one of her childhood visions, her father would still be alive. Since the accident, Charlotte has suppressed her visions to avoid making the same mistake. But when she receives a premonition of a classmate's murder, she can no longer ignore her powerful gift.

Then Charlotte meets someone who not only knows her secret but who also has a way for her to stop the killer. He offers to teach her how to manipulate her visions to change the future. But doing so will put Charlotte in the path of the murderer.…

Aprilynne Pike's bestselling Wings series was called "remarkable" by Stephenie Meyer, bestselling author of the Twilight Saga. And her most recent novel, Life After Theft, was cheered as a "whirlwind adventure" by School Library Journal. Now Aprilynne returns with this exhilarating departure from her previous novels. Sleep No More is a psychological thrill ride that is sure to keep readers' hearts racing until the very end.

My Thoughts :

Charlotte has spent her life following one simple rule, never interfere with the visions. When she was young she tried to change one and her father ended up dead. Now she tries to block every vision that comes, that is until one comes so violently she cant suppress it. When she sees her classmate dead she knows she cant let it happen but how can she help?

When a text comes through her phone saying they know what she is and they can teach her how to stop the murders she is hesitant to believe but when another murder happens she knows she has to do something. Will she be able to stop this killer before he strikes again?

I absolutely loved this book!!! It hooked me from the start.

I really liked Charlotte. She has a strong sense of right from wrong and has always wondered why they have to suppress the visions. They have to be getting the visions for a reason and if they can do some good then why don't they? When she gets the visions of her friends she cant stand around without at least trying to do something. I did think though that she was a little naive at times and should of confided in her aunt.

Smith was a mystery from the get go. Even though Charlotte knows he has secrets she still trusts him. I liked the mystery surrounding him and enjoyed finding out his story.

The romance wasn't a major factor in the book but I loved seeing it develop. Charlotte has had a crush on Linden forever and when he finally notices her she is thrilled. Linden was a normal teenage boy and they were both so cute together. My heart absolutely broke when what happened happened!! I wont say anymore because of spoilers ;)

The overall concept of the book was fascinating. I loved the story of the Oracles but did find there wasn't enough of why they had to suppress the visions. I know the author explained that the roman empire abused their power so the Oracles decided they needed to stop their visions but why do they still do it? I loved that the book was set in the modern world. Oracles are so awesome to read about but I've not read a book with them set in modern times.

With plenty of action, suspense, mystery and intrigue, Sleep No More was a quick read. I went into it with no expectations and ended up really enjoying it. Aprilynne Pike is one author I always buy and she did not disappoint with this book. Its a good solid mystery with a paranormal twist.

  1. This looks so good! :) The whole concept of oracles and not being able to interfere is so fascinating. I really like the look of it.

I also like that that this book has romance in it but it is not a a huge contributing factor.

Thanks for sharing this my dear. I might have to sneek it in the house so my parents don't find out I have bought another book ;D xxx
