As the flames of Varkadon spread, war rips through the Shifter Territory… With the Aldonnian kingdom celebrating the news of her brother’s soul bonding, Laelynn seizes every opportunity to drive herself to the brink of exhaustion. If her body is worn, then her brain would be too tired to dream. Laelynn knew the men who’d captured her were gone from this world, but that didn’t stop the haunting images from plaguing her mind. Not even the pesky thorn-in-her-side Shifter Prince could keep the dreams at bay. Though Dustan’s commentary through their mental bond had kept a lingering smile on her lips, despite the battles that rage within her.
Yet when Dustan distances himself Laelynn questions the connection between them. Those fears rise when her own talents begin to morph and grow into the unexpected. Torn between love and faith, Laelynn strives to find the purpose behind the evolving gifts. What she discovers is far more than she ever imagined.
As tragedy befalls the Shifter Territory and brother battles against brother, Laelynn knows what must be done. Face her demons and triumph, or she’ll never claim the song of her heart.
My Thoughts :

I really enjoyed book 1 and couldn't wait to dive into book 2 because this focuses on Laelynn and Dustan (whom was my favourite characters in the last book)

Once again Desiree Williams has captured my heart with her characters. Laelynn is such a sweetheart and a genuine person. Her love and niceness shine through in everything she does. I loved seeing her find herself with her new gifts and allowing herself to love.

Dustan is once again Dustan, though he is more subdued at the start. Laelynn is his heartsong and along with that comes new gifts! Dustan is a changed man, literally!! I love his new gifts and how he struggled with what he becomes. So often people just take things like that and accept it without question, where as if it happened to me I know I'd question why and I'm glad Dustan was like that!

The romance is once again so sweet. I have to say though, that I'm glad both of them had reservations and it wasn't a case of insta love. Because they are so far away at the start they struggle with their feelings and it takes awhile for them to embrace what they have.

There is more action in this book than in book 1, which I again loved!! Some heartbreaking things happen but the way the gang deals with it was inspiring. We still don't see much of the Varkadons head honcho but you get the feeling through out the book that there is an epic battle coming! The girls are getting stronger as are their heartsongs and I can't wait to see the worlds class!

Anyway, Shifter's Heart was an amazing second book. Right from the start you will be captivated by the characters and the world that the author has created. The plot flows seamlessly and you will fly through the pages. I loved this one and am eagerly awaiting book 3 to see what happens.
