Traveler by Dennis W Green Blog Tour and Giveaway!

Welcome to my tour stop for Traveler by Dennis W. Green! Traveler is an adult science fiction novel. The tour runs July 6 – July 17 with reviews, interviews, guest posts and excerpts. Check out the tour page for the full schedule.

About the Book:

Blending mystery, police procedural and sci-fi, Traveler is a thriller in the tradition of Daniel Suarez and Dean Koontz, with just a dash of Jim Butcher.
Police detective Trav Becker can travel between parallel realities. So can other versions of him. And one is systematically killing every Trav he can find.
Trav must fight to keep the very fabric of time itself from unwinding as he hunts the most dangerous quarry of all… himself.
He must hunt the most dangerous quarry of all… himself.

My Thoughts:

Parallel universe stories can be pretty much hit or miss because so much can go over my head, well for me anyway ;) This was a hit for me because the author explained everything in an easy to understand way and this isn't focused on the science of it, more of the characters.

Trav was such an awesome character (and there are a lot of him in it!!!) We start the story with Trav at his lowest, his partner got killed and his girlfriend left him. He is scheduled for his testimony to be heard about the death and on the way to the station, he feels odd. When he gets there, it's to find Adam isn't dead!!! What is going on?? Things get even weirder for Trav and what follows is an impressive and intriguing read.

Trav was a complex and interesting character. He finds out that he can jump to parallel universes and the one he is in now, is much better than his own. His partner isn't dead and he is still with his girlfriend, also the Trav in that stream is dead, so he can stay here and no one will be non the wiser, right? Not so! There is a Trav that is jumping from stream to stream and killing the other Travs and it's up to this Trav to find out why and stop himself from killing himself!  Sounds confusing, but it's not. As I said already, the author does a great job of explaining everything.

Anyway, this was such a great read, it has the sci-fi feel but not overly heavy on the sci-fi. It also has the added bonus of being a mystery/cop thriller feel too. Trav has to unravel the murders to see where the other Trav will strike next, plus he has to deal with the mob in the stream he is in. it's like a mystery within a mystery.

In all this is a fast paced and interesting read. I loved the characters and setting, I loved the parallel universe and how it was explained, and I loved how gripping it was. Once I started, I didn't want to stop because I needed to see what happened next. It's an interesting and engaging read and I can't wait to read the next one!
