Sometimes danger is hard to see... until it’s too late.

Britt Pfeiffer has trained to backpack the Teton Range, but she isn't prepared when her ex-boyfriend, who still haunts her every thought, wants to join her. Before Britt can explore her feelings for Calvin, an unexpected blizzard forces her to seek shelter in a remote cabin, accepting the hospitality of its two very handsome occupants—but these men are fugitives, and they take her hostage.

In exchange for her life, Britt agrees to guide the men off the mountain. As they set off, Britt knows she must stay alive long enough for Calvin to find her. The task is made even more complicated when Britt finds chilling evidence of a series of murders that have taken place there... and in uncovering this, she may become the killer’s next target.

But nothing is as it seems in the mountains, and everyone is keeping secrets, including Mason, one of her kidnappers. His kindness is confusing Britt. Is he an enemy? Or an ally?

BLACK ICE is New York Times bestselling author Becca Fitzpatrick’s riveting romantic thriller set against the treacherous backdrop of the mountains of Wyoming. Falling in love should never be this dangerous…

My Thoughts :

With spring break upon them Britt decides that instead of going to Hawaii or somewhere warm, she wants to backpack across the Teton Range with her BFF. Her ex, Calvin, was into all the outdoors stuff so in a way she is secretly hoping that he might tag along. Well she gets her wish. Calvin has to go with them. She is hoping that maybe he will see what he is missing out on and they will try again.

Britt and Korbie are driving to the cabin but along comes a blizzard. They cant see more than a few feet in front of themselves. They end up stuck and decide that they need to go on foot, they cant be that far away from the cabin!! They find a cabin alright but not the one they want. They have no choice but to seek shelter. When they knock they find 2 handsome men, Shaun and Mace, Britt already met Mace earlier in a shop so while she was wary of them at least she knew one of them. The girls are delighted to have shelter from the storm, that is until Shaun pulls a gun on them and tells them that they have to lead them safely off the mountain or he will kill them. Britt knows Korbie isn't able for it so convinces them to leave her behind.

After discovering a body in the cabin Britt realises that they must be the killers she has read about, 3 girls were murdered in the mountains. She knows her only hope of survival is to make them think she will lead them out of the mountains, but at the first opportunity she has to try to escape. Will she make it?

I adored Becca Fitzpatricks Hush Hush series and when I saw she had written another book I added it to my wishlist. While its not in my normal genres I still loved the sound of it. Well I'm glad to say that Black Ice was all that and more!! I loved it.

Britt had always had a crush on Calvin and was thrilled to have finally gotten together with him, even if he wanted to keep it a secret. When he broke it off suddenly with her eight months before, she was devastated. She decided to train to cross the mountains and show him what he was missing. Now I liked Britts character but did have some problems with her. At times she was strong, brave, smart and capable and then at other times she came across as helpless and naive!! She annoyed me when she was all helpless and woe is me!! It would of been a 5 star read from me otherwise.

Mace was very intriguing! He was totally swoon worthy but because he was the baddy you kind of have to hate him. He has the whole mysterious stranger part down to a t!! He give glimpses to his true self and I loved finding out his story. Im glad how it ended too.

The plot to Black Ice was very fast paced. Its a thrilling, riveting, edge of your seat book. Once I started reading I didn't want to stop. The author has a way of pulling you in with her vivid writing and not letting go. I loved the suspense and the way the author gave enough of the story to keep you hooked. Now I will say that at a certain part of the book the author gave away who the killer was. It was a massive red flag!! Even though we know who it is it still didn't detract from the plot. There were plenty of twists after that to keep the plot alive. I was reading Black Ice and I could imagine it on the big screen. It was that good!! Highly recommend and Becca Fitzpatrick has cemented herself as one of my favourite authors.

  2. This sounds like it would make a good movie! I'm not sure if I'd like it or not, because while it sounds good an inconsistently weak heroine drives me nuts. Nice review. :)
