“I’ll only be here a little while longer, Ollie,” I manage in between breaths. “Then everything can go back to the way it was. Like I never returned.”
The lines in his forehead deepen. “You think that’s what I want? To go back? Tell me your life has been better since you left,” he challenges, raising an eyebrow.
I place my hand against his chest and attempt to push him out of my way, but he doesn’t budge. Not even an inch. Instead, he places a hand against my cheek. I inhale sharply, caught off guard by the sudden gentleness of the action. “You tell me right now that since leaving here your life has been better, that you’re happy, and I’ll walk out of this greenhouse. I’ll pretend that seeing you here doesn’t drive me wild. I’ll ignore all the things my body wants to do to yours. I’ll forget the fact that you leaving without a goodbye wrecked me.”
I open my mouth to argue, but he cuts me off. “You wrecked me, Ryans,” he reiterates, his voice desperate.
I prepare to tell him that I’m happier. That life has been easier without being caught between him and Aiden. That I enjoy not having to worry the press is lurking around every corner. That I prefer being a normal girl. That the day we shared together was just that—a day. It didn’t mean anything. It didn’t define me.
But the words refuse to come out of my mouth. Instead, a small gasp breaks free, and I know that if I don’t bolt soon, my resolve will shatter. Ollie’s hand slowly trails down my cheek and across the length of my neck, stopping on the delicate skin above my collarbone. My breathing picks up.
Tell him to stop, Alexandra.

Author Bio:
Tiffany Truitt was born in Peoria, Illinois. A self-proclaimed Navy brat, Tiffany spent most of her childhood living in Virginia, but don’t call her a Southerner. She also spent a few years living in Cuba. Since her time on the island of one McDonalds and Banana Rats (don't ask), she has been obsessed with traveling. Tiffany recently added China to her list of travels (hello inspiration for a new book).
Besides traveling, Tiffany has always been an avid reader. The earliest books she remembers reading belong to The Little House on the Prairie Series. First book she read in one day? Little Woman (5th grade). First author she fell in love with? Jane Austen in middle school. Tiffany spent most of her high school and college career as a literary snob. I’m breaking Castle’s rules. Do I care? Not really—not yet.
Rogan’s skin prickled as she snuck through the portal leading to the city, exhilarated to be patrolling on her own for once. My Thoughts:

I loved book 1 of this and eagerly dived into this when I got it. It took me a little while to immerse myself into the word the authors created, because it was a few years since I read the first one, but once I did, I devoured this! 

So this one starts about a year after the events of book 1. Poet has learnt to live with what he is, but in this one, he has to deal with what he has to do in order to fulfill his destiny. He is still grieving over the fact that he couldn't save Alan, and his waking life isn't doing good, because he is splitting his time between Alan and Samantha. He is brought back into the Dreamscape with a bang when REM returns and is rocked to the core when he realises that something is taking control of dreamers bodies and is intent on bringing the nightmares to the waking word.  

Immediately after starting this, I remembered what it was about book 1 that I loved so much, and that was the world building and the imagination of the authors!! The creativity of the authors impressed me the first time, but it's even better here. This edition felt darker and more dangerous. So much is at stake and the suspense and anticipation the whole way through was amazing. I had a very, very hard time putting this book aside. 

My heart shattered for Jonas! He already had so much to deal with in book 1, but when he finds out what he has to do to truly fulfill  his destiny, what he has to give up, it broke my heart! I loved seeing him grow as a character in the first book, but he grew so much more in this one. He has captured my heart and I'm both eager and terrified to see what happens him next.

In all, this book was amazing. Well written and developed, it's a must read! The plot is imaginative, magical, adventurous, and action packed. It gripped me from the start and I adored it. This author duo really brought a phenomenal world to life and I look forward to more from them.

My Thoughts:

Book 3 sees Sophie and her team struggling to survive. There is very little left of the original team and the biosphere that they are hunkered in is their only salvation, that is until sabotage from within causes something to happen and the team have to reach out to Captain Noble for help. Will they get help before they are over run? 

Wow, I thought book 2 left me breathless, but whoa, this one was non stop!! Talk about action packed!!! My poor heart couldn't keep up with everything that was going on. Not only did something happen the biosphere, but they found hope! They have found alien poles on the highest summits of mountains around the world. They hope that the weapon they created will disrupt the signal, thus giving them time to attack them and the alien ships. They also found encrypted messages from different bases from when the attack first happened, but one stands out because it was sent after. It's from Offutt Air Force Base and this base may hold the answer to getting survivours off of earth. 

As I said, the pacing was extremely fast paced! So much happens that I was on the edge of my seat throughout. I kept imagining it as a movie while reading, and I honestly think it would make an amazing one!! The author really brings the scenes to life with his descriptive writing and any time I hear a scratch/scrap sound, my first thought will be alien spiders!!! 

My emotions were spent while reading this! The characters I've come to love are put into situations that had my emotions all over the place. A sign of a good book is one where you become invested in the lives of the characters, and I was invested! Sophie, Rodriguez, Noble, the boys... all of these have captured my heart. I was rooting for them the whole way through. 

In all, the 3rd book was amazing. It was action packed, exciting, entertaining, well written and developed and held my attention till the breath taking end. I really can not wait to dive into the final book later today!!

Thanks for hosting me today. I’m thrilled to be here to talk about my new paranormal romance, Fading, and pass on some tips I’ve learned in my journey as an author. First, a little about Fading, which is the first book in The Fading Series.

Fading – Insider Info (or as much as I can tell you)
I often think of Fading as the VLJ story. As in Victor-Leath-James.
Being in love is wonderful, heartwarming, and can leave you breathless. But, sometimes, it is so confusing! If you have ever loved two people at the same time, you can relate to what Leath is going through in Fading. Although some readers have expressed their choice (Victor or James), many feel the way the same way Leath does; she loves them both.
As Leath soon learns, decisions of the heart are not always clear or easy to make. Thank goodness, she has best-friend, Anamae, to help her navigate the waters. On second thought, the word, “help,” might be a bit of a stretch
Feeling Extra? Readers are often surprised to learn that one of the settings in Fading is a real place. Judaculla Rock is a 2,000-3,000 year-old petroglyph located in western North Carolina. Several legends surround the origin of the rock as well as the images that are carved into its surface. I’ve had the opportunity to visit Judaculla Rock a few times and have really enjoyed incorporating this setting into Fading.
Which brings me to writing.
I’m often asked if I have any tips for new writers. The best suggestion I have is to join a critique group.
Now.
No, wait. Join one yesterday.
Learning how to give and receive thoughtful criticism will make your writing stronger. Writing is often an isolated endeavor. Being a part of a critique group helps foster a sense of community. It’s great having someone to turn to when you need to bounce ideas around. And, having a group discussion about your writing will help you see your story from a different perspective.
I’m also asked about the editing process. I’ll leave you with my best tip for editing.
Read your entire manuscript aloud. That really helps you notice mistakes and helps you smooth out the rough spots. If necessary, I suggest you record yourself as you read aloud the more difficult sections.

My Thoughts:  

Book 2 sees the group at Cheyenne Mountain finding out that there could be other survivours from different biospheres. They have made contact with Alex, from a biosphere in California, and hold out hope that maybe more have survived. They also think that they have made a weapon that can harm the Organics, all they need to do is try it out to see. They get their chance when one of their own is captured and taken by the spider things. This leads them to realise that the Organics have created human farms, and have taken captured people there to be harvested later. Overton holds out hope that some of his missing soldiers might still be alive. 

What a ride!! I had to take several deep breaths when I finished this because it took my breath away with it's relentless pace. Absolutely non stop!!! It's not just the action that was non stop, it was also the emotions I had while reading this. I think I went through them all!! 

The plot was fast paced and exciting. We get to see a little more of the invasion through different eyes and get a broader scope of what the aliens are and what they want. This is where the author excels in this book I think, his imagination is amazing and the world he has created is fantastic.... extremely scary, but fantastic! The different aliens he created were awesome and his descriptive writing and attention to detail, brings them to life in a way that was astounding.  I could picture every creepy spider, worm or dinosaur like creature he wrote!!

The author isn't afraid to get rid of characters! We lose some, but we gain some too. The two boys are awesome, and I'm so glad we get their back story in a different short story, because otherwise it would have made them feel incomplete. On finishing this one, I read both White Sands and Red Sands and it brought the boys to life! Alex is another new character and his addition is great. He is at the end of his rope and ready to finish it all, but is picked up by some other survivours. I'm intrigued with him and can't wait to see more about him! 

In all, this second book was amazing. The author has really opened up the world and we are starting to see a bigger picture. We get some answers as to how this happened with no warning. We also see tensions rising in the biosphere and people are starting to lose it being cooped up so long. I'm so glad I have book 3 to read straight after this one!! Brilliant series.

My Thoughts: 

It's 2061 and the world isn't what it used to be since the Solar Storms. Leaders of the world have agreed that there is only one option, and that's to try to inhabit Mars. Dr. Sophie Winston has dreamed of the day that she would do something like this. She is willing to do anything to realise that dream and has agreed to test a biosphere deep within the heart of Cheyenne Mountain. She has been told that this will pave the way to that dream. But things start to go wrong and the team have to open the doors early. What they find outside is something they never dreamed! Life is about to get a lot harder. 

Having loved two series that this author wrote, I was both eager and hesitant to dive into this series, eager because his writing is amazing and hesitant because there were some pretty bad reviews about this series. But I needn't have worried, this book was amazing!! I read some of the negative reviews and a lot of them were complaining that the science was sketchy, well I didn't think so. I enjoyed all the sciency bits and thought they were done well. I'm not a scientist and really don't care if something wasn't 100% right, the plot of this felt right to me and that's all that matters in the long run ;) 

Anyway, plot wise this was incredibly fast paced and exciting. The action starts right away and it's breakneck speed from there. When the gang leave the biosphere, they come out to a world that's changed forever. I loved how the author portrayed the aliens and found myself quite frightened by them, especially with what they were doing! He has created a unique spin on the classic invading alien story and I raced through this to see how it'd end. 

One thing I've seen with this author, is his amazing ability to write great and memorable characters. This one is no different!! Sophie is one strong, fierce main character and I was rooting for her the whole way through. She is smart, confident, headstrong, and relatable. Each of the characters are well written and developed and I pretty much liked them all!! 

In all, this surpassed my expectations. I wasn't sure what to expect from it, but what I got was an exciting, edge of your seat read. It drew me in and I devoured it and I'm so looking forward to the next one!! It's movie worthy good!  If you're on the fence about reading this, don't be. Give it a go... you might be pleasantly surprised! It's fiction, it's there to be enjoyed :)

The floor shifted slightly beneath my feet. Suddenly everything in the room seemed too bright: the white sheets on Adam’s bed, the mother of pearl buttons on Adam’s mother’s shirt, the fluorescent light overhead. I wanted to throw up, but I was afraid if I left the room Adam’s parents wouldn’t let me back in. “Maybe there’s something wrong with his voice.”
Adam’s father turned around. “There’s not a thing wrong with him, he just doesn’t want to talk to us. This… performance is for our benefit. He knows he’s in trouble and he can’t face it.”
“That’s not fair!” I said. Fear of Adam’s father drifted up and out of me like a ghost. “You’ve no idea how hard it’s been… how much he’s tried to…and now he’s sick and you’re acting like you don’t even care.”
“Jenny,” Adam’s mother looked at me like she’d never seen me before, “I understand you’re upset, but Adam is our son. Do you know what it’s like to get a phone call at four o’clock in the morning telling you that your son’s in the hospital? Adam’s father and I just spent two hours in a car worrying about what would be waiting for us when we got here. Can you imagine what that’s like? Can you?” The polite hostess mask slipped from her face like an overripe berry from a vine. Throughout her speech, she alternated between twisting the string of pearls she wore around her neck, and digging her French manicured hands into her sides as if to punish them.
I wanted to tell her I was sorry, but before I could form the words, Adam’s father started shouting at me. “You and Adam spend every waking moment together! You must have known that he’s been drinking, getting into trouble at residence. Why didn’t you call us, Jennifer? How could you have let it get this far?”
I couldn’t breathe. Adam’s father’s words were like an invisible hand reaching into my body and pulling out my breath like a long, twisty piece of rope. And then Adam spoke: “Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Why are you even here? I don’t want you – I never want to see you again. Get out, get out, get out.”
My whole body went rigid at the sound Adam’s voice. Even the tears on my face seemed to still with shock. Was Adam talking to me? Did he want me to go away and never come back? Was he mad at me for leaving him alone? I looked at Adam’s mother, her too bright eyes seemed to have forgotten how to blink, and her hands shook as she reached for her pearls.

Author Bio:
I became a writer because the world inside my head was so real and vivid, sometimes more so than the outside world. In some sense I have lived parallel lives, present in my real and fictional existence in different ways. A lover of faerie tales, fantasy and gothic horror, a thread of the mysterious or unexpected runs through all my work. My dream is to find readers who will gather round and let me tell them stories that will become a part of their life the way they have become a part of mine.
My short fiction has appeared in numerous publications including, The Storyteller, A Fly in Amber, New Plains Review, Silly Tree Anthologies, and in the e-zines Les Bonnes Fees, The Devilfish Review, Rose Red Review and 87 Bedford. An excerpt from my forthcoming YA novel Losing Adam won first place in the Young Adult category of the Seven Hills Literary Review contest.
