This has been on my wishlist for ages so when I saw it up for review through a blog tour, I jumped at the chance and I'm so glad I did cause I really enjoyed this.
Sydlynn Hayle is part Witch, part Demon and has been battling her heritage since forever. All she wants is to be a normal girl doing normal things. Her mother is a powerful witch and head of the Hayle coven and is trying to get Syd to join them when she turns of age but she doesn't want to. But lately Syds' powers are manifesting when she doesn't want them to and if she can't get them under control then she will be in trouble with the coven, plus there is strange magic in the air and things seem to be going wrong for the Hayle coven. Syd is drawn into a world she doesn't want to occupy when her mother becomes compromised. Can Syd save her and retain her humanity?
I loved Syd. She is half witch, half demon but longs to be normal, though there is nothing normal about her life! She has a demon for a father, a half demon sister, who had to disguise herself everyday because she has horns, a cat who is a fae stuck in cat form, a vampire uncle and a grandmother who is crazy, and a mother who is a powerful witch and coven leader!! I nearly forgot to mention the fact that Syd also has a demon side within her that she has to battle daily to control!! With all that happening, I loved that she just wanted to be normal!!
The plot of this was fast paced and engaging. It had a little bit of everything you need in a great witch read and then some! It is also a story of finding ones self and standing up for what you believe. Syd has spunk but she needed to find herself and believe in who she is. It also had a cast of awesome characters that you can't help but love, like Sass, Syds' cat. I loved the whole little back story on how he became a cat. I also loved the banter they shared!!!
There isn't really a romance but there is a hint of a one. Syd does kind of go with Brad, a jock, but I'm so hoping it's just a dalliance because I didn't like him much. He isn't there for her when needed and is a bit of a typical jock. We also have Quaid, a new comer and a possible love interest!! Lol.
In all this was such a great read. It will grabbed me from the start and didn't let go. I was mesmerised with everything and didn't want it to end! There is so much happening in the story that it was really hard to put down and I can't wait to dive back into this wonderful world the author has created!!
