Tensions rise between Delvengard and Sorak as the Sorak queen demands the return of the Blade of Torrill. As Delvengard scrambles to locate the mythical weapon, many fear war is inevitable.
Fritz, who secretly possesses the dagger, is tormented by its evil. Eager to take control of its power, he journeys in search of a mysterious being who may be able to help.
The Green Dagger, Book Two of the BlackMyst Trilogy, continues the adventure, five years after the events of Book One, Eyes of the Enemy
My Thoughts :
In this second installment of the Blackmyst Trilogy we see that a few years have passed since the first book. Fritz is now in the council but is finding it harder and harder to control his temper. He fears that the dagger is taking too much control of his actions and thoughts and needs to find some way to control it. He sets out on a journey to find someone to help him.
Meanwhile Beynn is tasked with finding the elusive Blade of Torill, which he thinks that Fritz has. When their paths cross, Beynn realises that Fritz needs the dagger so he agrees to help find a way to control it. Both him and Fritz take on the treacherous journey to control the dagger while trying to stay off the radar because they aren't the only ones who want the blade.
I really enjoyed book 1 and couldn't wait to start this one. Well this didn't disappoint.
We see more of Fritz in this, which I loved. The dagger has really taken a hold of him though and he isn't the same person he used to be. He is angrier and meaner but we still a glimpse of the boy he was sometimes. He gets moments when he is lucid enough that he realises the dagger is controlling him.
Beynn has grown a lot since book 1 too. His abilities have grown too. He is sent to find the dagger but when he sees that Fritz needs the dagger he knows he will help his best friend. He is as strong and brave as ever.
Plot wise, it's as action packed as book 1. The Blade is causing trouble all over and is set to start a war. Fritz and Beynns journey takes them through the Blackmyst Forest where they have to face different things. There is more magic, more adventure and more secrets revealed.
Anyway, The Green Dagger is a great second book. Its such an adventurous read and one I know any age will enjoy. We learn a lot more about the dagger and where it came from but are left with more questions as well. We are introduced to different characters too which adds to the story and makes it more exciting. This series is such a gripping and action packed series and one I highly recommend. I'm getting these books for my boys shelf because I know that they will love them. I really cant wait to see what happens in the next book.

I hate it when the author skips over years, I always feel like I missed something. I'm glad this one was just as good as the first. I hadn't heard of this series before.
