I spent my birthday fast asleep. In a coma to be exact.
When Savannah wakes up after two months in the hospital, she sees a whole lot more than expected, things that could put those close to her at risk.
The five Delcarta sisters have never believed in the paranormal, not like their woo-woo mother. Instead they believe in the power of sisterhood, of romance, and rebuilding their lives after their father's mysterious disappearance nine years earlier. Starting anew in the small town of Iris Harbor, they see potential in all.
But Savannah's awakening after having surgery on a life-threatening aneurysm brings a unique ability to the Delcarta sisters–together, each can predict the future with one of the five senses. And Savannah has the gift of sight.
A serial arsonist has been terrorizing the tight-knit community, and the Delcarta sisters have their suspicions on who could be to blame, including a boy who starts as an adversary to Savannah and then very quickly becomes her whole world. Investigating these crimes, trying to stop them before the next flame is sparked will call upon Savannah to use her newfound abilities with the help of her sisters, and will put each of their lives in danger.
This stunning new paranormal series blends the sweetest of romances with breathless suspense, and introduces five young women who share a haunted past, an extraordinary gift, and an uncertain future.
My Thoughts:
Having never heard of this before, I went into it with no expectations and ended up loving it!!
Savannah has an aneurysm and the only hope is to have it removed. She has been told that she will die without the surgery but she will could also die during the surgery so for her there is no choice, go through it and have a slim chance of becoming normal or definitely die! They surgery seems a success though Savannah remains in a coma for a few weeks. During that time she seems to have weird dreams but puts it down to her coma.
When she is better, her mother decides that they need to move to start afresh. They move to Iris Harbor to a small town. Everything seems perfect until Savannah gets a strange case of deja-vu on the beach. She realises that she saw this exact moment when she was in her coma. She learns that her 4 sisters are experiencing strange things happening to them and is determined to find out why. Why is it she can see what appears to be the future while her sisters experience taste, sound, feeling and hearing? All 5 together experience the same event and have to patch it all together. When they start seeing visions of fire they know that they have to find a way to stop whats going to happen, but they are getting very little clues during the vision so how will they do it? Plus Savannah is distracted with the hot guy across the street and with the creepy teacher as well, just what is his problem!!
I loved Savannah. She goes through the operation knowing that she doesn't really have a choice, but hoping that she can finally be normal. She was so brave and determined. I also loved her relationship with all her sisters. They fought but they were close. Savannah is one of a triplet and she also has twin sisters, which in itself is unique to the YA world! They have a strong bond and it shows.
I loved that all the sisters had powers, not just Savannah. More often than not, there is only one person who has the power, so it was refreshing that they all got them and that they all needed to work together to solve the clues.
There is a little romance both for Savannah and her mum. Savannahs dad disappeared years ago with no trace and Savannahs mum thinks it's finally time to put herself out there. It was nice to watch her mum find a man and I was happy for her. Their mum is such a nice person. Savannahs love interest is, of course, the hot guy across the road! It may be cliche but I enjoyed their relationship. It wasn't insta love and they had to work for it!! Despite some hiccups, they were awesome together.
Anyway, in all this was a refreshing read. It's well written and developed, the characters were all well fleshed out and the plot was believable. I loved the mystery, the characters, the plot, the heroines, the idea of it, so ya, I pretty much loved everything about this and can't wait to read more.
