Sixteen-year-old Megan is pregnant.
As she prepares to tell her family, the unthinkable happens. Her village is razed by soldiers: her grandfather murdered, her twin sister taken.
On a desperate mission to rescue her beloved Gwyneth, Megan discovers a terrifying truth - that the destruction of her old life is inextricably linked to her unborn child. The feared witch soldiers, vanquished a generation ago, have returned to see the fulfilment of a prophecy: one that will put Megan and her new friends - Eleanor, a fiery ex-aristocrat, and Damon, a wayward charmer - at the heart of the greatest war her world has ever known . . .
My Thoughts :
When Megan finds out she is pregnant she goes to tell the father. Little does she know that this simple act will save her life! While she meets him, her village is attacked and everyone killed by soldiers. She manages to narrowly escape but her twin sister Gwyneth is taken.
Megan is devastated but vows to do what she can to save her twin. Along the way she realises that it wasn't ordinary soldiers who took her sister, but witches! There are supposed to be no witches left, they were supposed to have been killed of generations ago by the priests, so why are they here now? And what do they want with Gweynth? When Megan learns the truth, her world is turned upside down and nothing will be the same again.
I love witchy books and couldn't wait to start True Fire!! Well this was so much more than a witch book, this is a book filled with magic, adventure, deception and twists that will leave you gasping! I loved True Fire and flew through it!
I loved the characters the best!
Megan is such an amazing heroine. She is so strong, selfless and brave but also so vulnerable. Her world is turned upside down but her first thoughts are of her sister. She hates to think that her sister is in any danger or is getting hurt so when she is taken Megan follows straight away.
Along the way Megan meets Elanor first. Elanor saves Megans life and Megan comes to rely on her. Then they meet Damon, whom I loved the most!! He was a breath of fresh air in the otherwise tense book. He was so funny and witty and I loved his interactions with Elanor and Megan.
The author has created a unique and difficult world but its one I instantly loved. I loved finding out about the witches and the twist the author put on them. I also loved the prophecy and how it came about.
Anyway, overall True Fire was an intense and epic read. I fell in love with each of the characters and the world in True Fire. Its jam packed with action, adventure, intrigue, lies, deception and enough twists that it will leave you gasping! Its quite the rollercoaster. I for one can not wait for more from these characters, especially Damon!! I highly enjoyed this and would recommend it to everyone.
